House of Sand: A Dark Psychological Thriller - Michael J Sanford

Warning - Adult Themes and Strong Language

Wow! Just, Wow! I am at a complete loss of words with this one. I just finished House of Sand: A Dark Psychological Thriller Written by Michael J Sanford. Just when I thought I knew what was going on, it threw a very hard knife right in the middle of the road - Not a fork, but a knife. The entire story, I thought I had the plot line pegged as just another psycho book about mental illness, and boy was I wrong!
It went from simple story to complete mind fuckery in just a few pages, and it just spiraled on from the very beginning right up until the very last page. This was not just another story of deception and lies... No way, this was something else entirely! I literally walked around my kitchen in circles when the book finished, my hand to my mouth, repeatedly saying "Oh my gah" out loud, while my cats looked at me like I was a freakin' psychopath. Yes, it was that intense. What I found intriguing was, and unless I missed it, there was never any mention of the main character's name. I, personally, thought that was an awesome part of the story!
I should tell you though, I didn't know it when I started this book, but it's the first book of a series. Book two was released October 2018, and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

This is the story of Joy, Aza, Ty, and... we will just call random character - Guy. The story mainly revolves around Guy, who is an unemployed EMT, whose wife, Joy, is a complete wicked witch. Aza, their cute, adorable, yet sometimes incredibly creepy daughter, is 8 years old, and Ty, is Guys best friend.
Guy hears things, random clicks and ticks that consume his life. One night he does something completely unthinkable, which, ironically brings Guy and Joy closer together... for a while. The huge ball of shit completely unravels when someone finds out Guys secret. But exactly which secret is it that they know about?

"What you get by dishonesty you may enjoy like the finest food, but sooner or later it will be like a mouthful of sand." ~ Proverbs 20:17

This book gets my overall rating of 4.8/5
